My Story

You might be a lot like me.

I’ve never been overly concerned about the environment I just wanted to find a way to save some money so I could spend more time enjoying life and working less.

I was fed up with receiving expensive electricity bills that sucked my wallet dry and although I found solar power to be an interesting concept “in theory” I thought that the up front costs of purchasing a solar power system would be prohibitive and besides I’m no “Bob the Builder”, I mean, every time I buy something from IKEA and try to put it together I always manage to stuff it up somehow… I’m no handy man that’s for sure.

One of the things that I’ve always been good at is learning, studying and researching and if I put my mind to something, with a little help from Google I can always find the solutions to whatever problems I have. So I did some research and I found that the standard home solar power system can cost anything from $3,000 to $20,000 depending on who you ask, I mean, who has that kind of money lying around right? So I kept searching and looking and came across some books about solar power and I heard about how some people were building their own solar power systems from materials that they had purchased from their local hardware store. I thought “wow, that’s pretty cool” but still, it sounds a bit complicated but then I found out that there were people around who could teach me how to build my own solar power system for less than $200 and within less than 2 days and the best part was, they had taught average, non-talented, idiots like me.

So I thought, this is great, not only am I saving money paying 80% less on my electricity bill every month but also I’m doing something good for the environment as well, I mean, solar energy is clean, cheap and environmentally friendly so everybody wins right?

So I thought I’d grab my notes and put together this website and eBook to help people get a better understanding of how solar power works, I mean, I’m no Einstein but at the same time I realise that not everyone enjoys learning as much as I do, some people really need the bare basics, introductory level information so they can get their head around how solar power works and why it is important.

I wanted to write some real world stuff, some basic information that doesn’t require for you to be a science or engineering whiz to understand (I don’t like to waste my time and I don’t like to waste anyone else’s time either) and I figure the more people who know about this stuff the better off we are all going to be. I mean climate change / global warming is a problem that is here to stay and it isn’t going away anytime soon and so that’s why I’ve decided to set up this website… To connect with like minded individuals and work together to find practical low budget solutions to such problems as rising electricity costs and increasing petrol prices.

So feel free to check out my site and let me know what you think of it!
