Choosing The Right Water Heater For You
By Mary Lorainne
From the word itself, it is perfectly understandable that the water heater warms or heats water. We can not deny the fact that we need hot water. We need it for our coffee and soups. We need hot water for our baths (we don’t want to freeze to death with cold water). We need it to wash our clothes in, to clean our cars with and to warm our pools. We need it for a relaxing soak in the tub after a hard day at work. Truly, there are many things that require the use of hot water and the easiest way to have hot water is by utilising water heaters.
The market right now offers different types and kinds of water heaters to suit everyone’s needs. Currently there are four types and you can choose one that you think would best suit your requirements and your budget.
One that is gaining popularity is the solar water heater. The solar water heater depends on the sun’s power to heat up your water. Your geographical location is important to consider when buying this type of water heater. It is important that you have an ample supply of sunlight in order to maximise the efficiency of your heater. If you live in a place with lots of warm weather this would really come in handy. These don’t come cheap. If you are considering solar water heaters as a long term investment, they can definitely save you a lot of money, a solar water heater is a good option because the sun’s power is absolutely free. You will need a back-up water heater though in case you will be experiencing times when there is no sun.
I suppose the oldest method of heating water would be utilising the stove but nowadays you can find stoves with built in water jackets. If your stove is on most of the time, this will allow you to have free hot water. This is an efficient way to heat water.
Most people utilise electric water heaters as a back-up. Though it may be a bit expensive to use because of the electrical costs associated with it, it can easily provide you with heated water in as short as 15 minutes.
The last type is the gas heater. This serves the dual purpose of not only heating up your home but also heating up water as well. This option tends to be cheaper than the electric type especially if you have a piped supply of gas.
In choosing a water heater, do your research and find something that will provide you with the most savings in the long run not just on the initial costs.

Best water heater for turtles! choosing best answer quickly!!?
i bought a visi sterm stealth water heater for my turtles.
and they said its hardcord, turtles can’t break it.
and is it true?
tell me the differnce between just regular heater and this visi sterm stealth heater.
and where should i put it.
can i put it near the filter? (MY TURTLES ARE AFRAID OF FILTER SO THEY DON’T GO NEAR THEM!)
or just leftout place?
PLEASE BE DETAIL! I’M CHOSSING BEST ANSWER QUICKLY!!!
AND CAN I PUT THE HEATER AND PUT SOME GRAVEL AT TOP OF IT??
My heater is Top Fin. On the back of the package, it will give you instructions on how to put it in the tank. Sure, you can put it near the filter, put it below it so its not touching and that way the filter will push out the heat to the whole tank.
If you’re worried about the turtles hitting it, you can get a part from a PVC pipe and drill holes in it and put the heater inside the pipe. The holes will get the heat out, and the turtles won’t hit it. Don’t put gravel on top of it, or else the heat won’t distribute evenly. You shouldn’t even have gravel in there, the turtles might swallow it, unless its big rocks they can’t swallow.
Good luck!
